INTRODUCTION Yoga is all about harmonizing the body.It is one of the six orthodox philosophical schools of Hinduism.There are four paths or types of yoga.They are Karma yoga, Kriya yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Jnana yoga.There are a broad variety of yoga schools, practices, and goals in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. ORIGIN OF INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY Every year 21st June is celebrated as International Yoga Day all over the world.This was proposed by Narendra Modi ji (Prime Minister of India) in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 27,2014.This is introduced to create awareness on yoga and to make everyone follow it. 2 ADVANTAGE OF PRACTICING YOGA It is a practice that connects the body,breath and mind. There are many advantages of yoga some of them are listed below: ● It makes you feel happy ● It reduces strain and stress in the body ● It increases your concentration and coordination in your body ● It reduces anxiety,back pain and depression ● It also helps in good digestion of food ● It gives you good sleep DIFFERENT YOGA POSTURES Yoga postures are called as “Asanas” in sanskrit.There are 84 asanas in yoga and twelve of them are basic and they are : 1. Headstand (Sirsasana) 2. Shoulderstand (Sarvangasana) 3. Plough (Halasana) 4. Fish (Matsyasana) 5. Sitting Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana) 6. Cobra (Bhujangasana) 7. Locust (Salabhasana) 8. Bow (Dhanurasana) 9. Half Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana) 10. Crow (Kakasana) 11. Standing Forward Bend (Pada Hastasana) 12. Triangle (Trikonasana) Source:- Admin
